NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 14, 2008) - 1000 FRIENDS of Connecticut reviewed two developments against smart growth criteria and announce it gives high marks to 360 State Street, New Haven and Storrs Center, Mansfield. The announcements were made at the statewide smart growth education and advocacy organization’s Second Annual Smart Growth Conference on Thursday, November 13, at the Omni Hotel in New Haven.

The developments exemplify the theme of the conference: “Tying it All Together: Transit, Jobs & Housing”. The developments and the scoring process were featured at a morning plenary.

The day-long conference featured keynote speaker, Carol Coletta, nationally-syndicated radio host and President and CEO of CEOs for Cities. There were twenty workshops on smart growth topics. Expected presenters and moderators included: DOT Commissioner Joseph Marie; House Majority Leader Christopher Donovan; Senate Minority Leader John McKinney; Representative Brendan Sharkey; Senator Gary LeBeau; SAMA Director, Frank Alvarado; Simsbury First Selectman, Mary Glassman, Shelley Geballe, Distinguished Senior Fellow, CT Voices for Children, and more.
