URBAN DESIGN ASSOCIATES TO PREPARE TOWN CENTER PATTERN BOOK FOR STORRS, CT Author: Urban Design Associates 11/28/2006 PITTSBURGH, Pa. (November 28, 2006) - Urban Design Associates (UDA) was commissioned by LeylandAlliance LLC, Tuxedo, NY, to produce a pattern book containing controls and standards for Storrs Center, a new mixed-use development adjacent to the University of Connecticut's main campus in the Town of Mansfield. The development is inspired by tradtional New England college town centers, providing housing, retail, entertainment, and other services. Mixed use buildings will be arranged around two squares with an adjacent quiet residential precinct and an open space preserve. The design will create outdoor venues for dining, celebrations, festivals, markets, concerts and informal gathering. A variety of residential units will be provided, including urban lofts, apartments, condominiums, and town houses. UDA is a Pittsburgh-based urban design and architecture firm known internationally as a leader in designing town centers, rebuilding urban neighborhoods, revitalizing downtowns, and designing new communities, with over 1,700 projects world wide. UDA recently designed town centers and high density mixed use developments in Omaha, NE, Camden, NJ, Ankeny, IA, Pittsburgh, PA, Monterey, CA, Baxter, SC, Louisville, KY, Washington, DC, and Toronto, Canada.
